About
Maria Chryssopoulos is an active artist in theatre and film. She just graduated with her Bachelor of Theatre with Acting Concentration degree at the University of Georgia. She has been in the arts since she was a child, starting with experience in dance, and now evolving into the field of theatre. She plans to pursue the craft of theatre, telling and creating stories about LGBTQ+ lives.
Artist Statement
I desire to share my theatre by incorporating physical work to combat the roles of identity. My identity as a queer woman has caused a grief that has made me recognize the existential manner of my life, and I want to share that thought in the most ridiculous manner. Through that ridiculousness, I want the audience to still accept me, as that is what they do for the people in their lives. I’m curious about combining the ugliness and beauty in life in a form that can still be accepted because that is how we live our lives.
